Income Generation

PCF recognises the need for the charity to gain financial stability and is focused on achieving that through income generation projects in the Philippines.

Garbage collection
PCF has started its own collection of waste materials from office blocks and schools. Currently over 6 tonnes of garbage is being collected each day in our Materials Recycling Facility (MRF).

Some materials are segregated and used within our livelihood projects to make our products.

Waste pickers are employed from the dumpsite and paid for every kilo that they have segregated. In most cases the waste pickers are now earning 3 times higher than they were earning previously and receive free innoculations, free health care, working in a well ventilated and safer environment.

The profits are then invested to expand the MRF operations.

Garbage Production
Over 200 parents and out-of-school youth are now earning 14.5% above the national minimum wage, based on their previous income they are now earning a 300% increase by making PCF products using recycled materials.

PCF Products for Sale
Glossy magazines and leaflets are collected from publishers and individuals in both Europe and the Philippines and are made into beads for necklaces, pendants, bracelets and earrings.

The ring pull tabs from canned drinks and foods are collected from a variety of places throughout the Philippines and globally. Recently Coca-Cola Philippines has formed a partnership with PCF and Coca-Cola customers in the Philippines to collect as many ring pull tabs from their products as possible. They are then made in to attractive handbags, accessories, and jewellery.

Recycled juice packs or doy packs have been collected on the dump site, washed and cleaned and sewn and made into shopping bags, pencil cases and aprons.

A local printer in the Philippines supplies PCF with printed tarpaulin that is recovered from the cities billboards, we then make this into bags and aprons.

Used toothpaste tubes are collected mainly from the UK and are used to make fantastic shopping bags.

A partnership has been formed with Tesco and Sainsbury's Supermarkets in Gloucester City UK to collect used toothpaste tubes and crisp (potato chips) packets.

Currently we are experimenting with making sandals from used truck tyres.

The proceeds from these products are also invested back into the livelihood projects.
