The severe level of poverty that the PCF school children endure has meant that PCF has implemented a
series of social intervention projects. Feeding and health programmes and an extensive counselling and
welfare system are in place to support not just your child, but supporting the entire family in order
to ensure that your child can remain in school until they complete their education.
Over the years the educational programme has been modified so that every child is given every opportunity
to succeed. Over the last 5 years the costs of educating a child has risen significantly and currently
costs PHP1,500 (Peso) per month or &poound;18.00 (UK Pounds) a month.
The education programme includes:
- Full time education (A minimum of 7 hours schooling per day for grade school children).
- Continued improvement of school facilities and equipment, ie computer lab, library, play areas, sports equipment.
- Remedial classes for children who fall behind in their studies or have a hard time learning.
- Summer school for students who have not passed their exams but with extra tuition are given the chance to move up a grade.
- Daily school transport service.
- 3 sets of school uniform and school shoes for grade school students.
- School bag and water bottle.
- 8 sets of high quality school books that are used in class and for home assignments.
- Field Trips at least once a year.
- Reward systems to encourage children regular school attendance and academic achievements.
- Feeding, health, and social intervention programmes for the children are funded through grant making
trusts, PCF income generating projects, and general fundraising activities.
